Today was a full day of orientation. I got a little bit of good information, but most importantly I got a decent free Swedish lunch! That orientation lasted all day. My head was nodding through the middle of it. I am really tired up until around 1:30 it seems like. Then at night I cannot sleep!
Then one of my Swedish friends invited me over. I had to take the bus. I don't know my way around town yet because I'm supposed to get a tour early next week. And everything on the bus is in Swedish. So when the bus driver forgot to stop at the bus stop I wanted, a lady started asking me questions in Swedish & yelling at the bus driver. I quickly got off there & said "uh, thank you!". Turns out, that was one bus stop too early. So I asked around & walked to the next one where I was supposed to meet my friends. They are very strong Christians, & Christians are very few and far between here. Then they took me to another apartment with more Christian friends. They were soooo welcoming. They spoke English as much as they could even though it was difficult at times. We ordered pizza & hung out. There were 2 girls, me, a married couple, & an American Christian from Georgia all a few years older than me. The American graduated Bible college & is now a missionary in Sweden. All these people go to the same church that I will visit Sunday. He was telling me about all the new services & Bible studies they will be offering very soon. Him being there made me feel more comfortable too because he has hung out with them for a few months now, & he does not know Swedish either. This group also likes to discuss America and Sweden. It can get quite interesting. Tonight I felt more at home than ever! Really, where would I be without all the prayers?
OK, I recieved advice to speak Swedish from 3 different people.
1. So far whenever I say "veinerschnitzel" (Beasley's) people look at me funny, & say they think it's a German meat, but they aren't quite sure. Thanks a lot guys...
2. I haven't used or heard "yeah, ya' betcha", but it sure sounds like it would fit (Lin Harrison).
3. "Yeah, yeah" has by far been most helpful (Pam Newby!).

Hey kid,
Sounds like your fittin' in pretty well. If you are like me you'll catch on like Ninja fast!??? ha ha. (A. Shawna likes to tell how slow I am to catch her things...on purpose?...Maybe.) Anyway, glad to here things are seeming to go so well. Hey, you made it thru O'Hairy w/o any troubles, so you know it gotta go well. (been there joke) Wanted to make one suggestion real quick like...you been talkin' about relating to them there folks in Sweden. One sure fire way to get them on yur good side is to belch a big one after you eat their meal, it is received as a compliment. Or maybe that was France. Oh well, let me know how it works...I can tell you it doesn't work well w/ A. Shawna, but I still try.
Take care and enjoy. keep the notes comin'.

I cant help but notice how excited you are about a FREE LUNCH. Is that really noteworthy? You are in a brand new beautiful country, millions of new things and lots of new people, but a FREE LUNCH, wow. Are you sure that you are not a farmer instead of a farmers daughter???? Gee I cant help but wonder now? Who would enjoy a free lunch more, Christina or Jerry? Im just teasing ya I would be pretty pumped about a free lunch to, but then again, I am a farmer. What is your excuse?
This site is really cool and i have had alot of people tell me how much they like it, so as Unka Mike says keep em coming.
