What I did in Stockholm

Friday morning we left for Stockholm. It took 6 1/2 hours to get there by bus. That's including the stop at McDonald's. We got a quick tour of the town. We went out to eat at a way overpriced restaurant. Everyone but another girl & I easily spent $30 on the buffet & wine! And it was Japanese food!
Saturday we got a tour of the City Hall. It has 3 crowns on the top of it. They are each the size of a VW Beetle car. It was very nice. It even has "the most comfortable stairs" chosen by the architects wife. They are supposed to be easy for big dresses & heels. Then we saw the changing of the guards at the main Palace. Then the big group of 54 broke off into small groups and did whatever we wanted. I looked around the "Big Church". I went to the chocolate place for lunch. I know, it's not healthy. But I didn't know I would get such a gigantic piece of white chocolate cheese cake! The cheese cake here is thicker, the crust is too, and it's more fluffy. It was very good. The hot chocolate was good too, but it reminded me of Grandma Sharon's a lot. I shopped around with some people. That was the best way to see the town. There are all kinds of shops besides Swedish, like imported things from Africa, Afganistan, & India. We ate supper at a crepe place. Everything on the menu is wrapped in paper thin pancakes. And here, you don't eat syrup on pancakes. It was good. My pancake had a sunny side egg, cheese, & ham. That night, we went to the movies. Sweden has popcorn AND big fluffy chips at the movies. I tried the chips, which were ok.
Sunday I ate semla with a friend for breakfast. It is an almond bread with creme in the middle. Semla Day in Sweden was last week, but I missed it. We went to the Skansen park. It has animals, glassworks, & very old houses from Sweden. Red is very popular for painting because it used to be very cheap. Bright yellow symbolized the more prominent families. We saw moose. Then we went to the Vasa Museum to see the 333 years old ship that sunk, & has been brought back to land years later. It was so amazing. It has been so well put back together. They found 3 "brand new never used" sails in the drawer, they have guessed at "re making" people (I don't know what that's called, but it's freaky!) so you can see what they might have looked like, they can tell what parts of the ship used to be painted what color, they found so many odds & ends that have now been preserved on put on display too.
Then we came home.
