Today I got my bike. Only, the pink one with yellow polka dots was too high for my short legs. So I got a blue mountain bike that from Canada. Riding a bike feels like 5th grade again!
Yesterday was Chinese New Year's Eve. The date for thier New Year is different every year. And there are about 12 animals that takes turns to be "animal of the year". This year it was a rat. The Chinese go to bed at regular time. On New Year's Day (today) people are supposed to wear red to scare off a monster from hurting thier farms. They visit family & eat.
Stefani made us a Chinese meal. Luckily Sara & I did not have to eat with chopsticks. The food was mostly good. First we had soup. It tasted a little bit like cereal. It had leaves & big berries in it. You were just supposed to drink the broth. She also made sweet & sour yellow & red peppers with fish, cashew chicken with leek, some kind of chicken wings & potatoes, & her friend made eggrolls. Dessert was sweet beans. It looked like little green soy beans with a sugar added paste.
Tomorrow morning I leave for Stockholm & will not be back until Sunday night!
This is not a pinata. It is the rat, with a candle inside.
Sara from Sweden, Stefani (I can't remember her real name) from Hong Kong, Yu from Japan, I can't remember his name from Japan, or her name from Japan, & Dickee from Japan.
These Korean/Chinese/Hong Kong/Japanese names are so hard to remember!!!
The Japanese educated us some on their country. You are never to stab the butter with a knife & leave it straight up. It is somehow linked to death. Also, when people die, they burn them. Then they pass thier little bones through a line of people by chopsticks until a small bowl is filled. Then that bowl is buried. This is why you never pass anything else by chopsticks. That is linked to death too. Kind of morbid!

Zoinks, like hey Scooby, give Christina a scooby-snack. That stuff doesn't sound very appetizing! And her memory is going too!
I really like Asian food but that didn't sound to good. I don't think I will try chopsticks. That ritual would take a long time. Love ya Gma S.
Christina,
Be sure and teach Gma.S how to eat soup with chopsticks when you get home. :) Try chopsticks it isn't that hard...VC
